Biog

Ellie lives and works in London where she is currently an Associate Lecturer at Byam Shaw School of Art, Central St. Martins College of Art and Design. Ellie also graduated from Central St. Martins and completed a Masters degree at Winchester School of Art. She is a visiting tutor at various other colleges across the UK.

Ellie has exhibited and performed internationally at galleries and museums including: Tate Modern, London, The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) London; El Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Caracas,Venezuela, the international video festival LOOP, Madrid and ArtSway in the New Forest. In 2009 she was included in a major retrospective of British artists’ portraiture at The Neuberger Museum of Art, New York.

Ellie has held residencies in the UK, Europe and the United States. In 2008 she was the first artist in residence at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, where she went on to have a solo exhibition, supported by the Esmee Fairbarn Foundation.

On graduating Ellie was Creative Review’s Pick of the Crop and in 2007 she was nominated for the Jerwood Artist’s Platform. She has been the recipient of multiple grants from the Arts Council England and an AHRC award for postgraduate study. In 2009 she was awarded a Jerwood Fellowship.

Ellie is also committed to education and opera work. She has collaborated with, and been commissioned by: English National Opera, Opera North, The Women’s Library, Aldeburgh Music, Wigmore Hall and The Almeida Theatre.

The University of the Arts London and The Open University have both published her academic research.
