Internal feelings of division are played out literally in this formally composed work: one person playing two roles simultaneously. Using basic clowning techniques the performance is choreographed to Billy Joel’s Always a Woman (1977). The clichéd yet poignant lyrics of the song are at first as familiar as those of any pop ballad, but a more complex and questionable depiction of female identity is disguised by Billy Joel’s beguiling melody.
